Last weekend the Final Phase of the Rector Trophy of Universities of Castilla y León was held in Salamanca, which on this occasion was organized by the University of Salamanca. More than a thousand university students took part in it, who participated in the different modalities in which this final phase of the Rector Trophy is organized: indoor soccer, soccer, basketball, handball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, chess, badminton and paddle tennis.
Each of the participating universities (ULE, UPSA, UVa, UEMC, UBU, USal, UI1, EUI and UCAV) were represented by teams and athletes in the different sports modalities whose initial confrontations were conditioned by the results of the last edition. of the Rector Trophy of Universities of Castilla y León.
In this edition the Segovia Campus was represented in the modalities of men’s indoor soccer, women’s tennis and women’s table tennis. The men’s team played its first day facing the Isabel I Universities of Burgos (UI1) and the Pontifical University of Salamanca (UPSa), who fell 7-1 and 2-1 respectively against the Segovian team, which in this way managed to pass to the final in which they achieved a creditable second place after being defeated in the final against the University of León by 3-1.
María de Diego competed in the tennis category, and could not advance from the first round of the draw after losing against the representative of the University of León, losing 4/1 and 4/0 to an opponent who ultimately won the women’s tennis modality.

In the case of Mayra, the table tennis representative, she competed in the doubles category with Maialen, achieving third place after moving to the final round, defeating UPSA and UEMC on the first day and losing against the ULE and USal.
The event crowns the best university in the region by adding the results achieved in the different sports modalities. The University of Valladolid, which was defending its title, failed to retain the title of university champion, which this time went to the University of Salamanca, with UVa in second place and the University of León in third.
This sporting event is the Government of Castilla y León’s commitment to promoting university sports. Beyond the sports results, the day was a success of coexistence, friendship and festivity among the university students, who had a great experience.
The next university sporting events will be the Spanish University Championships.
