Uncertain Future: Joe Flacco Reflects on His Career After Winning Comeback Player of the Year

Quarterback Joe Flacco was one of the best stories during the 2023 NFL season with the Cleveland Browns and winning the Comeback Player of the Year award proved it. Now, the 39-year-old veteran is a free agent and his future in the league is undefined.

In an interview on the SiriusXM NFL Radio program, Flacco said he would feel comfortable returning to Cleveland for the 2024 season, but would prefer to go to a place where he could play as a starting quarterback. The QB played the last five games of the regular season, won four of them, and managed to take them to the playoffs.

“All things considered, Cleveland is the place I feel best about,” Flacco said. “Now, I have to choose someone who will give me the opportunity to play and consider all those things. “I have a special feeling for Cleveland, though, just because of the weeks I spent there and how great the city was.”

The downside to staying in Cleveland is that Flacco wouldn’t be a starter. This is because the AFC North franchise has a lot of money invested in Deshaun Watson; who suffered a fracture in his throwing shoulder, but is expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 season.
