Salomón Rondón and Oussama Idri-ssi gave the Philadelphia Union a ride. With a hat trick from the Venezuelan and another double from the Dutch, Pachuca had a feast to secure their place in the round of 16 of the Concacaf Champions League.

A week after having rescued a goalless draw in the United States, the Tuzos destroyed (6-0) a rival that did not have the qualities of a professional team.

In a packed Hidalgo stadium, with its seats full, they went out to seek victory. After the defeat they suffered against Querétaro, in which Guillermo Almada rested his starting team thinking about the match against the Americans, the people of Hidalgo showed that colorful football that has them currently fighting for the first places in the Liga Mx.

The Mexican club, in an overflow in the area that ended in a penalty, found its first score with the Venezuelan Rondón executing his charge from the corner.

Minutes later, the South American had the goal with which he would have put his rivals on the ropes. However, his impact, despite carrying a lot of power, was unexpectedly saved by goalkeeper Andre Blake.

However, fate presented a new opportunity to Rondón, who scored for the second time with a shot unreachable by Blake, the product of an assist from Erick Sánchez.

With a dizzying pace, the five-time Concacaf champions closed the first half.

They maintained the same cadence in the complement against a physically broken team. Thus, Rondón increased his scoring quota to seal a lapidary triplet and with the flavor of a quarterfinal.

Not satisfied with the result, the steamroller continued with a double from Idrissi, a brand new reinforcement for the Hidalgo team.

With a club completely lost on the field, the icing on the cake was put by youth player Alan Bautista, to end a scandalous result in the MLS rivalry to equalize distances with the Liga Mx.

On the other hand, Concacaf announced the first edition of the women’s Champions Cup. The best clubs in the region will compete in a tournament that will serve as a qualifier for the FIFA Club World Cup.

For the nascent tournament, 11 clubs are expected to qualify according to results of sporting merit, which will be proposed by each nation. The United States and Mexico have been assigned three direct spots in the group stage.
