Toronto Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Dealing with Minor Injuries During Training Camp

Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is dealing with some nagging minor injuries.

This was reported by the Sportsnet network on Monday. This explains why the athlete who turns 25 next Saturday doesn’t get as many training camp reps as in previous years.

Last Tuesday, against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Guerrero Jr. was hit in the middle finger of his left hand. He returned to the Jays’ lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, but suffered a minor injury to his left knee.

The first cushion player did not participate in the preparatory duels on Sunday and Monday. He also missed batting practice for players who were not in uniform for those games.

“It’s just a matter of caution,” manager John Schneider said Sunday. He’s okay, but a guy like him is so important. [Son genou] was a little painful. It is March 10. We can afford to give him extra days off.”

With two weeks left in the preseason schedule, Guerrero Jr. had 19 at-bats. He hit seven hits, including a home run. He also produced four runs.

The Blue Jays will return to action Tuesday afternoon against the New York Yankees.
