Tim Hardaway Jr.: Only one played more with Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving will always score their points, after that it’s a bit like roulette. Washington has the ability to fill that role, but he’s been up and down in the first few weeks, similar to Hardaway, who finished fifth in Sixth Man of the Year voting in a contract year in 2021 and then Dallas with one Four-year contract worth $75 million was rewarded.

This deal was already controversial at the time, but in the end it was probably too much because Dallas was unable to sell Hardaway in almost three years despite a few attempts. “I had no idea if I would be here, to be honest,” Hardaway said before the start of the season.

And yet, Hardaway played an average of over 29 minutes in over 300 games for Dallas. Hardaway has his value as a willing shooter alongside Doncic, especially when he hits just under 40 percent of his threes. Last year the Doncic/Hardaway combo had a net rating of +8, but this season it is negative (-0.5), also because the offense with Hardaway is no longer better, as it has always been in previous years was the case.
