“There is disappointment but also pride,” underlines the England coach

Steve Borthwick returned to the narrow defeat of his men (33-31) this Saturday in Lyon against the XV of France.

Steve Borthwick : “My first feeling is that the players gave everything. I am proud of them. The atmosphere was incredible this Saturday evening in Lyon. We didn’t get the result we wanted. But when we see what the players gave tonight… It was an incredible match. There is disappointment but also pride. When the players return home, they will be able to be proud. (…) The team progressed during this Tournament, it is still young and showed great things. Our last two matches (Ireland and France) were very intense. France is very strong, it is powerful and has a lot of speed.”

Jamie George : “Rugby is like that sometimes… We would have deserved better, given everything we gave on the pitch. I am very proud of the team. During the seven weeks of this Tournament, we made a lot of progress. We wanted to recreate a strong bond with our supporters. We didn’t find a way to win tonight but I’m happy with what we accomplished.”
