The World’s Fastest Accountant: Eugene Emo-Dezzi’s Inspiring Journey to Sprinting Success

Eugene Emo-Dezzi surprised the world of athletics last year when he ran 100 meters in 9.93 seconds. He thus became the fourth fastest ever sprinter in British history and qualified for the world championships. The runner’s story is inspiring, because he started competing at the age of 26, but the progress has been extremely rapid in five years. Athletics is not a priority for Emo-Dedzi, because he is an accountant – the world’s fastest accountant, who is preparing to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.

At the world championships in Budapest, he reached the semi-finals, defeating Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs, but in the relay with the British national team, he was only 0.02 seconds behind the bronze medal. In order to participate in the world championships, he had to take time off from work, where he had to work full-time from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Five years ago, when Emo-Dezzi took up sprinting more seriously, because a good friend encouraged him to do so, he ran 100 meters in 10.90 seconds. Last year it was already 9.93 seconds, which is already the highest level result, and the progress curve shows that the Brit is getting faster and faster. “Eugene has a unique talent for learning very quickly. He has the ability to process information faster than any other athlete I’ve worked with.”
