The second match of the preliminary playoff round between Dukla and Slavia (7:2) almost didn’t end. The wild finish was started by a disgusting knee tackle from Tomáš Knotek on Jonáš Jungwirth, who then left the ice on a stretcher. Emotions were burning on the ice and in the stands! After the incident between the home fans and the visiting substitute, coach Aleš Totter ordered an early departure to the cabins. In the end, the visitors finished the final 47 seconds, but without a single player on the bench.
For his tackle on Jonáš Jungwirth, Tomáš Knotek received a five-minute plus penalty until the end of the match. The Slavists collected a total of 67 penalty minutes in the match, already in the first part the same penalty as Knotek and Karel Křepelka. Dukla used four power plays in a 7:2 win.
“The result is beautiful, but the finish is the highlight of the whole match. Whether it was due to an unnecessary foul during a decided situation or the fact that something flew onto the Slavist substitute and hit their coach in the head. It’s just a shame,” Jihlava assistant Karel Nekvasil was sorry.
