The Taiwanese Tai Tzu Ying’s Disappointing Loss at the French Open Badminton Championship

Her five shuttlecocks lost in the semi-final of the French Open Badminton Championship (IFB) on Saturday certainly still haunt her. The Taiwanese Tai Tzu Ying, who holds the record for longevity at first place in the world rankings in women’s singles (214 weeks), played last week in the annual Parisian stage of the international circuit in the brand new Adidas Arena, at the gate of the Chapel (18th century).

The tournament, which she won in 2017, is one of the eight major events in world badminton. All the driving aces were therefore gathered in this brand new setting which will welcome them again during the Paris 2024 Games. The competition thus served as a test event, as much on a sporting, organizational and security level. Foreign delegations, accustomed to the Pierre-de-Coubertin stadium (16th century), discovered the room… and more broadly a district of Paris.
