The Success of the Spanish Junior Open: French and German Players Shine in Asturias

The seventeenth edition of the Spanish Junior Open concluded successfully yesterday, consolidating its position as one of the outstanding tournaments on the international circuit. The tournament, which has been held in Asturias since 2012 and in Oviedo since 2016, attracted a notable participation of players from America, Asia and Europe. The Frenchman Arthur Tatranov stood out in the competition by winning two golds: in singles he beat the Portuguese Tiago Berenguer and in men’s doubles, together with Thomas Tournefeier, he added his second gold. His compatriots Lily Gautier and Monitosita Touch were the champions in women’s doubles. For their part, the Germans also left their mark by winning two golds: Gloria Poluektov, individually, defeated the Irish Siofra Flynn; and Mark Niemannn, along with Marie Sophie, in mixed, who defeated Timeo Bourgin-Marjolene Raffin. The Spanish representatives also left their mark, obtaining two bronze medals in mixed, with Adolfo López, from the CTD of Asturias, and Carmen Jiménez, as well as in women’s doubles, again with Carmen, this time accompanied by Macarena Izquierdo, both players are from Ibiza.
