The Strong Start of JSV Speyer in the 1st Judo Bundesliga Southwest

“It was a really good start to the season,” said Szaundra Diedrich

Sindelfingen/Speyer. A tailor-made debut for the women of JSV Speyer: On the first day of the 1st Judo Bundesliga Southwest, the Speyer women won confidently at Vfl Sindelfingen with 10:4. While team boss Nadine Lautenschläger enthusiastically followed the live stream from a distance, her Szaundra Diedrich, the second half of the team boss tandem, was pleased with an all-round strong performance and particularly emphasized the contribution of the new additions: “The new team members have been energetic for us on and off the mat supports.”

At first, the Speyer women fell behind because Marlene Galandi had to admit defeat against the internationally experienced Ukrainian Yulia Kurchenko despite a strong performance, but her courageous performance and the exciting fight created a mood and motivation among the JSV women, who then took control: The The Dutch Amber Gersjes and Geke van den Berg as well as the Ukrainian Yelyzaveta Lytvynenko won their fights, and although Nadine Bazynski had to give up her duel, a preliminary decision had already been made after victories for Jana Ziegler and Katharina Keltjens with a halftime score of 5:2. Only for newcomer Keltjens it was a bit of a shame that her opponent gave up without a fight, so she didn’t get the opportunity to show her skills yet. But there will be more than enough opportunities for this as the season progresses.

The mandatory changes in the second round did not lead to a drop in performance. On the contrary, the results of the first round were exactly repeated. Galandi had to lose again to Kurchenko, after which substitutes Jessica Lindner and Jill Trenz as well as Lytvynenko secured the overall victory early with their second point. Nadja Bazynski had to admit defeat against Margit de Voogd for a second time, and Jana Ziegler and Özlem Gülmez took the points to make the final score 10:4.

“It was a really good start to the season. Not only from a sporting point of view, but it was also a beautiful and well-organized day of fighting on which Sindelfingen proved to be a friendly and helpful host. “That of course makes me excited for the rest of the season and especially for the home fight with the men on April 27th in Speyer,” said Szaundra Diedrich.
