The Roommates Show Reveals Brooklyn Nets Blamed for Isaiah Hartenstein Slipping in NBA Draft

On the Roommates Show, Knicks players Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart Hartenstein revealed that almost seven years ago the Brooklyn Nets were to blame for the German slipping into the second round in the draft. “They said I would have chronic knee problems, but I’ve never had trouble with my knee in my career,” the center said. “I’ve only had problems with my back in the past, I was aware of that.”

On draft night, Hartenstein received a call from his agent, who wanted to know what was going on with Hartenstein’s knee since Brooklyn was spreading a rumor that there was something wrong with it. “He told me that I would probably slip a few places because of that,” continued Hartenstein, who was seen between positions 15 and 35 before the draft.

Instead, the Houston Rockets struck at position 43. “I asked myself why they wanted to talk to me? So I’m on this call, I’m angry and I don’t feel like it at all, but in the end they took me.” After the draft, Hartenstein was examined again in Germany and nothing was found in his knee there either. Brooklyn selected center Jarrett Allen at No. 22 in the draft.
