“The RFEF has opened a sanctioning file and has removed from their jobs and duties the directors related to the judicial case being handled by Court 4 of Majadahonda; specifically, the director of Legal Services, Pedro González Segura; and the Director of Human Resources, José Javier Jiménez,” the entity announced.
In addition, the RFEF “terminates the contract with the GC Legal office” of González Cueto, Rubiales’ external legal advisor when he presided over the entity. He is one of those arrested for alleged corruption and money laundering in the RFEF, in an operation launched this Wednesday by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard.
“The powers of representation in all judicial proceedings have also been revoked, both for him and for Ramón Caravaca and other lawyers of this office,” the Federation added on its website.
This operation included searches at the RFEF and also at the house in Granada of its former president Luis Rubiales, for alleged irregularities in contracts since 2018 and which include those for the celebration of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The RFEF confirmed in its statement that it is taking part in the Majadahonda court case as a private accusation, ensuring that it regrets “the serious damage to the image of the institution and Spanish football.”
In addition, “the disciplinary responsibilities that Federation employees may have incurred related to these events, in one way or another, will be analyzed.” According to the statement, these measures were taken by the president of the RFEF Management Commission, Pedro Rocha, after the events that occurred yesterday.
