The Racing and Defense and Justice matches in the Argentine Cup | This Thursday, weather permitting

Racing and Defensa y Justicia will make their presentation this Thursday in the 2024 Argentine Cup, if the state of the playing fields allows it after the tremendous rains this Wednesday.

The Academy, which could not train this Wednesday due to the weather conditions, must play in La Plata, at Gimnasia’s Juan Carmelo Zerillo stadium, against San Martín de Burzaco, from Primera B. The match will start at 8 p.m., and will be refereed by Fernando Rapallini and can be seen on TyC Sports.

The event seems timely for those led by Gustavo Costas, who need to recover from four games without wins (two draws, two losses), all since their victory as a visitor in the Clásico de Avellaneda.

Of course, it has not been easy for Racing to cross paths with Ascenso teams in the Argentine Cup. Of the last five editions, three eliminations were against clubs in the category: Agropecuario in 2022, Boca Unidos de Corrientes in 2019 and Sarmiento de Resistencia in 2018.

Costas is expected to field a mixed team between usual starters and substitutes, forming with: Cambeses; Martyrena or Wall, Sigali or Di Cesare, Garcia Basso, Rojas; Wall or Solari, Sosa, Miranda, Baltasar Rodriguez; Salas or Carbonero and Adrian Martinez.

On the other hand, San Martín de Burzaco is third in Primera B, two points behind the leader Los Andes. The harvest of the team led by Marcos Flores is 15 points in eight games and they have just beaten Dálmine 1-0 in the last one.

San Martín would form with Lautaro Maldonado; Matías Escudero, Iván Centurión, Nicolás Barrera, Dilan Maidana; Juan Roth, Franco Benítez, Luciano Cariaga, Agustín Almirón; Joaquín Camejo and Jonatan Maciel.

Defense vs. Rafaela

Earlier, from 5:45 p.m. on the Sarmiento de Junín field, Defensa y Justicia will face Atlético de Rafaela (TyC Sports television). Julio Vaccari’s team is fifth in its League Cup zone, with 17 points in 11 games and has just drawn 1-1 with Racing in Avellaneda, adding just one win in its last six games (four draws, one fall ).

Atlético, led by former goalkeeper Ezequiel Medrán, did not start the Primera Nacional competition well and is ranked 10th out of 19 clubs in its area, with 8 points in seven games. It comes from drawing 1-1 as a visitor with Temperley.
