The Optimism Surrounding Rafael Nadal’s Clay Court Season in Spain

The case of Rafael Nadal is logically causing a lot of talk in Spain as he continues to withdraw and the clay court season is fast approaching.

During a recent interview with the Spanish press agency, EFE, Emilio Sanchez, former 7th player in the world and compatriot of Rafa, showed optimism.

“I don’t think he’s going to leave us. I think he will play well. I think he’s just a little scared because the operation (on his hip he underwent a year ago, editor’s note) is bothering him. But if he starts playing on clay, he will no longer be afraid because he will start playing and if he gets back in shape, I am convinced that at Roland‐Garros and the Olympic Games, he will will be at its best. For me it’s more of a battle against himself, he has to free himself and get out what he has in him, because when he went to Australia he played well. But he played a match where he hurt himself a little, then he worried a lot. But on land, it will hurt a lot less. »
