The great slayer of Christmas overboard! A sensational defeat with the 607th racket in the Tennis world

Angelique Kerber (607th WTA) caused a huge sensation at the start of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells and defeated the much higher ranked Petra Martić (58th WTA). Angelique Kerber scared Jelena Ostapenko. Even fight

The German looked good from the beginning of the match and had three break points. She wasted them all and then she was broken herself. This motivated her to play even better and she decided the next two return games in her favor. Then she even had two set points, but she wasted both of them. From that moment on, Ostapenko was merciless and after two breaks she won the game 7:5.

At the beginning of the second game, the Latvian again won the game on her opponent’s serve. However, she then lost her serve twice and found herself in a difficult situation, losing 2-3. Especially since soon she wasted three break points and held her own serve with difficulty. Then she failed and ultimately lost 3:6.

The deciding set started with four straight breaks. Then the players performed much better on their own serve. Until the eighth game came and Ostapenko began to lose herself. She lost the game and was one step away from being eliminated from the tournament. She successfully defended as many as three match points, but on the fourth she couldn’t cope and after losing 7:5, 3:6, 3:6 she sensationally said goodbye to the tournament. And the German woman never ceases to surprise.

In the third round of the tournament in Indian Wells, Angelique Kerber will play against Wieronika Kudiermietova (19th WTA) or Nao Hibino (80th WTA).
