What’s next for national coach Julian Nagelsmann (36)?
His contract expires after the European Championships. DFB President Bernd Neuendorf (62) announced that after the game against Holland (Tuesday, 8:45 p.m in the BILD live ticker) to want to record the conversations.
Nagelsmann doesn’t want to take a break after the tournament in the summer, but wants to continue working straight away – at a club or the DFB.
Now record national player Lothar Matthäus (63) is joining in!

In his column on “Sky” he demands: “I would like this to be discussed behind closed doors and not aired in public.”
Matthäus continued: “I could imagine that it would be a big challenge for Julian to shape an era with the national team, but I assume that at his age he wants to work with a team every day and I think that he has offers from clubs that interest him.”

Are Bayern also an issue for Nagelsmann? As is well known, the collaboration with successor Thomas Tuchel will end early in the summer. The German record champions are looking for a coach.

“I don’t know if he’s at the top of the list at FC Bayern, but a return to Munich would be something very special. I already thought back then that it was a mistake to give him leave of absence,” writes Matthäus. “For me, Nagelsmann was a good fit for Bayern Munich.”
However, he adds: “Whether he does this to himself again, albeit under different managers and under a different hierarchy, is up to him.”

Nagelsmann said on “ZDF” after the 2-0 win against France: “Of course it depends a bit on the offer, that’s clear.” At the press conference afterwards, however, he backtracked.
The next few weeks will show what happens next for him. Then we will know everything about where Nagelsmann ends up…
