The End of an Era: Haason Reddick’s Potential Trade to the Cardinals or Falcons

Haason Reddick’s time with the Philadelphia Eagles is winding down. It’s no secret that his time in Philadelphia is coming to an end, as, in all likelihood, he will be with a new team in 2024.

The only question is, ‘Who will trade for the two-time Pro Bowler?’ There are a ton of NFL teams who would love his prowess on their team. However, two teams from the NFC are taking interest in Reddick.

According to ESPNthe Arizona Cardinals and the Atlanta Falcons are interested in the 29-year-old. The former first-round draft pick has received permission to seek a trade as he pursues a new contract. Reddick will enter the last year of the three-year deal he signed with the Eagles in the 2022 offseason.

He is coming off back-to-back great seasons as an Eagle and is looking for a major pay raise. His $15 million-per-year average currently ranks 14th among edge rushers. Returning to the Eagles is not out of the realm of possibility; however, it’s clear teams have expressed their interest in Reddick.

The 2022 Second-team All-Pro was initially drafted by the Cardinals in 2017. He spent his first four seasons in Arizona before signing a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers in 2021. Before his Panthers and Eagles stint, Reddick was very solid as a Cardinal. He recorded 255 total tackles, 33 tackles for loss, 32 quarterback hits, nine forced fumbles, and 15 passes defended in 64 games and 31 starts.

The Cardinals are looking to compete for an NFC West title and take a leap under soon-to-be second-year head coach Jonathan Gannon. As for the Falcons, they are looking to win now and control the NFC South. Their signing of Kirk Cousins made that evident, and now they’re seeking a pass rusher. They desperately need one, as they were ranked 25th in pressure rate last season (32.7%) and 19th in sack rate (7.1%), and they were ranked in the bottom half in total sacks with 42.

Reddick is the best pass rusher for the Eagles and could easily be the best in the Falcons or Cardinals. Either one of these teams would be ecstatic to land this elite pass rusher. You could never get at the quarterback enough times, and Reddick does it better than anyone in the league. Who knows? Maybe there’s a sleeper team that comes and takes Reddick this offseason.
