The Clippers’ Struggle Continues: A Look at Their Recent Woes and Hope for Improvement

The Clippers’ situation is worrying. Little or nothing remains of that team that marveled a couple of months ago and now wanders without basketball direction; so much so that any rival can beat them (and well) while their own players admit that things are not good.

Paul George recently spoke of a lack of identity, Kawhi Leonard that they were not trying hard enough, and Tyronn Lue himself that perhaps the orders given by the coaching staff were not clear. Well, this past morning the Philadelphia 76ers visited them and they clearly lost.

Except for a reaction at the end of the second quarter, Nick Nurse’s boys completely dominated; So much so that with just over six minutes left in the match they were 21 points ahead. On the other side, the trio formed by James Harden, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George seemed powerless to at least be in the fight for victory. Despite everything, Lue does not lose hope.

«We know that we have to play better basketball heading into the playoffs or the season will end soon. We still have full confidence in this team and full confidence in what we can do. It’s just about going out and doing it every night: not 26 minutes, but 48 in which we do the right things,” analyzes the head coach of Californians.

More NBAList of top scorers in NBA history

As far as individual performances are concerned, Tyrese Maxey was really good with 24 points, while Tobias Harris accompanied him with the same amount. More surprising was seeing Cameron Payne be the top scorer of the night with 25 points off the bench. On the part of the Clippers, the best were Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell, both with 20 points.

Primer Harden vs. Philadelphia

After James Harden’s turbulent departure from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, last night was the first time he faced his teammates. The veteran guard finished with 12 points and 14 assists and chose not to speak to the media at the end of the game. The one who did was his former teammate Tobias Harris, who had good words for him.

«James is a great player and I always have great respect for him. It’s good to see him in Los Angeles thriving and playing his basketball. It’s all love and respect. He is a Hall of Fame player and it was an honor for me to be playing with him. Seeing him on the other side happy and enjoying what he’s doing, that’s what this is really about,” he says.
