The Chicago Bears surprised everyone by completing a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers for wide receiver Keenan Allen. The NFC North team only needed to send a fourth-round pick in the upcoming Draft to acquire a wide receiver who adds 10,530 yards in 11 professional seasons.
The wide receiver was officially presented as a Bears player and during the press conference he revealed that the Houston Texans and the New York Jets also inquired about him for a trade before his arrival in Chicago was made official.
“I was working all day with my agent and he told me he was coming to Chicago,” the wide receiver said. “There were a couple of teams that would have allowed me to decide where I would go […] Jets y Houston”.
Arrival in Houston or New York would have meant a less difficult path to the Super Bowl. The Texans have the foundations of a franchise QB in CJ Stroud and their defense is anchored by Will Anderson Jr. In the case of the Jets, the New York team has decided to bet everything to win a Vince Lombardi trophy with Aaron Rodgers as quarterback.

Keenan Allen excited for new start in Chicago
The wide receiver spent the first 11 years of his NFL career with the Chargers, first four seasons in San Diego and the rest in Los Angeles. Now, he’s excited to start a new chapter in Chicago without worrying too much about who the Bears’ next starting QB will be.
“I’m definitely excited for this new opportunity. Being in a new organization, one with a lot of tradition,” Allen said. “Obviously I wanted to finish my career (with the Chargers), but things happen and you have to move on.”

Allen explained that the only thing that changes is the jersey, because the name on the back, his last name, remains the same in Chicago as it was in Los Angeles. When he was asked if he would keep the number 13 jersey, Caleb Williams’ possible number, he said he would try.
