The ATP announces its calendar for 2025 with the Canadian and Cincinnati Masters 1000 expanding to 12 days

MADRID, 22 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP) announced this Friday its provisional calendar for the 2025 season, which will have a total of 60 tournaments spread across 29 countries and with new features such as the extension of the duration of the Canadian Masters 1000, which alternates in Toronto and Montreal, and Cincinnati (United States).

These two events are going to last 12 days, something that Indian Wells and Miami already did and, more recently, the Mutua Madrid Open, Rome and Shanghai, so there are only Monte Carlo and Paris-Bercy left in a more format reduced from one week.

In addition, there will be 16 ATP 500 category tournaments, three more than this year, among them the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Trofeo Conde de Godó which will continue in April, after the updates in Dallas (United States), Doha and Munich (Germany) .

On the other hand, the ATP 500 in Hamburg (Germany) will move from July to May to serve as preparation for Roland Garros and the ATP 250 in Los Cabos (Mexico) will change from February to July, while the Córdoba tournament would lose its place in the calendar at the beginning of the year on the South American clay tour for the Mallorca tournament on grass in June and preparatory to Wimbledon.

Also leaving the calendar, at least provisionally, is the Estoril (Portugal) event, “which is not a member of the ATP, but has operated under an ATP license since 2015.” “After many years of successful collaboration, the ATP and the tournament continue to explore all possibilities to try to find a solution for this highly prestigious event to be held in 2025 and beyond,” the association said.

“Next season we will see even more improvements to the ATP Tour’s premium product through a simplified calendar. This is fundamental to everything we have been building under ‘OneVision’, the ultimate goal of which is to create the best possible experience for our fans.” , said Andrea Gaudenzi, president of the ATP.

The Italian leader recalled that in 2023 they broke “new paths by welcoming a record five million fans” to their events. “This is just an indication of how positively the sport is trending and we believe there is still incredible potential to unlock,” he stressed.
