Terracina-Teramo, Italian Cup: finally some fans from outside the region

The quarter-finals of the Amateur Excellence Cup propose the very interesting match between Terracina and Teramo (first leg in Lazio, return in Abruzzo). The “Colavolpe” match pits two beautiful groups of fans, two squares with a long ultras tradition and two very important cities from a historical point of view, in an unprecedented match.

Founded by the Ausoni, then conquered by the Volsci, then passed to the Romansin antiquity TarracinaAnxur she was touched by the consular Appia and could boast a commercial port of fundamental importance for Rome, the capital of the Empire. Teramo, located on the opposite side of the Apennine ridge, was the capital of the Italic people of the Pretuzi and was called sleepovers the city between the two rivers (between the rivers), being surrounded by the Tordino and the Vezzola stream. The Abruzzo city was connected to Rome by a road which, after passing the Gran Sasso massif, joined the Salary at the post office of An interlocutornear the current Antrodoco.

Furthermore, the “Colavolpe” match is not only important for the reasons I have just highlighted, but also because, after twenty years, the guest sector of the Terracino facility sees the presence of fans from outside the region. I believe a brief historical digression is necessary at this point. In the 2003-2004 season Terracina made its last appearance in the then National Amateur Championship, precisely in group H, later won by Manfredonia, which brought together teams from Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise and Puglia such as Pro Vasto, Trani, Nardò, Avezzano, Manduria, Termoli and Cassino. After that relegation, Terracina played in eighteen regional championships, with only two appearances in D: in 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. From 2004 to today, therefore, there have been only two opportunities for the Terracinesi to meet non-Lazio fans: the match against Sangiovannese in the semi-final of the 2012-2013 Eccellenza national play-offs and the one against Olbia, the following year, in D, but both the Tuscans and the Sardinians were forbidden to travel to Terracina.

I won’t deny that when I’m about to reach “Colavolpe” I feel a certain adrenaline rush to the idea of being able to attend a historic match for all the reasons listed. Once I arrive at the box office I meet Marco, with whom I take a tour outside and with whom I will share this beautiful day lived in the name of the passion that unites us. After the short walk, with half an hour left until kick-off we decide to enter the pitch. The two teams are warming up, while the terraces begin to welcome spectators.

When the teams are lined up, the stadium presents a beautiful sight. Just before the initial whistle from Mr. Framba of Turin, the boys from Teramo make their entrance. The red and white ultras show up in around fifty units, a very respectable number considering the midweek day. This year is the third time I’ve seen them, after having admired them in Giulianova during the derby and, again in the championship, in the small stadium in Capistrello, in Marsica. I also have memories of them in Terni in the 2018-2019 season, in Serie C. Today, however, only the pieces of the players are present July 15, 1913of the Old Devils and of the distinct group, given that, as known, i Sixteen Steps eh Teramo Zezzadecimated by warnings for the well-known events in Giulianova, have decided to temporarily fold their banners, as they themselves communicated.

While the guests set up their banners, in the Sea Curve the boys of Terracina raise the historic tarpaulin with the face of the tiger Commandos Tigers 77surrounded by their beautiful flags and lots of flags, which give the sector a pleasant touch of colour.

The afternoon of the “Colavolpe” is characterized by a very strong wind, but the two sets of fans do not let themselves be influenced and cheer with great commitment. There Sea Curve He chooses above all long choruses that are well paced by the drum. There is no shortage of responding choirs and clapping of hands. In Terracina there is great enthusiasm and the Biancocelesti ultras are honoring the return of their team to the national stage in the best possible way.

On the other hand, the red and white ultras, like the Terracinesi, also support very well. The boys from Teramo appear compact and always on the move, producing lots of handfuls. The people of Teramo mainly choose dry choruses, many of which are for those in a yellow card, but some longer ones are also recorded.

On the pitch the match is vibrant. In the 30th minute Teramo, today in full green, took the lead with Massarotti, with a volley from Ferraioli’s throw that pierces the Terracino goalkeeper Martinelli. The reaction of the home players, however, was immediate and after just two minutes the Tigers scored the equaliser with Curiale, who has already scored two goals in this competition. The match, on the pitch and in the stands, is enthralling: the teams play openly and the two sets of fans put on an excellent show. The Tyrrhenian ultras also unrolled two banners: one for a friend who had returned from a warning, another inviting the city and the team to row together in this decisive phase of the season, which sees Terracina involved not only in the national cup, but also in the fight at the top of group B of the Lazio Eccellenza. The first half has no other noteworthy episodes and ends with the result 1-1.

In the second half the script does not change, with the two fans singing without pauses. The people of Teramo continue to cheer mainly with dry choruses accompanied by lots of clapping, while the people of Terracino sing many prolonged choruses, one of which is sung first sitting down, then hopping.

On the pitch Terracina is forced to attack to look for the 2-1 goal, given that in this competition the goal scored away from friendly walls is worth double. Teramo contains the attacks of Mister Pernarella’s men and responds with some counterattacks. Touré and Oses try for the red and whites, while the tiger Camara, in the 85th minute, challenges the Abruzzo goalkeeper Negro. The result, however, no longer changes, so Terracina will be forced, in the return match at “Bonolis”, to score at least one goal.

Once the match is over, the teams go to greet their supporterswith the guys from Sea Curve who sing “Everyone in Teramo”, in view of a trip outside the region, in an important stadium, which for them has been missing for too many years. Total indifference between the two fans.
