Tempers Flare as Detroit Red Wings Players Grapple with Frustration

Frustration seems to be gripping some of the Detroit Red Wings players.

Defenseman Ben Chiarot and winger Lucas Raymond found themselves in front of the net and pushed each other during Wednesday’s practice and had to be separated by their teammates.

In a video taken by WXYZ Detroit’s Jeanna Trotman, Raymond, who lost his helmet during the skirmish, appears to attempt to throw a punch while being distanced from Chiarot. Tensions seemed to dissipate quickly over time. The two players nevertheless exchanged a few insults before the resumption of exercises.

Detroit has lost six straight games and is no longer in the playoff picture after Tuesday’s 7-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

The Red Wings appeared to be on track to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2016 before their sudden downturn.

The Red Wings will host the Arizona Coyotes, who beat them 4-0 last week, on Thursday after spending the last four games on the road.
