Telmex, Megacable and Telcel, those that receive the most complaints due to service failures – El Sol de México

Telmex, Megacable and Telcel are the three companies that accumulated the highest number of user complaints in the last quarter of 2023, according to a survey by the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT).

According to the Soy User Statistical Report, a total of 5,399 complaints were filed against companies that provide internet, mobile, landline, and pay television services at the end of 2023.

Telmex and Telcel, companies belonging to América Móvil and owned by Carlos Slim, lead the market for internet, fixed and mobile telephony services. According to the IFT, 40 percent of the reports about its services were due to low speed failures or poor coverage.

Another cause was due to failures in charges, balances and bonuses, as well as difficulties in changing companies.

In the case of Megacable, which has 24 percent of the pay television market, only behind Grupo Televisa, with Izzi and Sky, the main complaint about its service was due to failures in charges, balances and bonuses.

Regarding response time, Izzi was the company that responded to the complaint in the shortest time, with an average of 2.2 business days. On the other hand, Movistar was the one that took the longest, using up to 21.8 business days to address a disagreement.
