Teguise Judo Club Children Shine at XVI Cidade de Santiago Trophy

Children’s judokas from the Costa Teguise Judo Club participated last weekend in the Santa Isabel Municipal Pavilion in Santiago de Compostela in the “XVI Cidade de Santiago Trophy”, which counts towards the final of the Spanish Judo Championship in the categories “A” Children, both male and female.

The Teguise club highlights this Tuesday in a press release that the children’s judokas (born in 2010 and 2011) who have represented the Canary Islands in Galicia have been Laura López, Eimy Curbelo, Elisabeth Díaz, Alberto Medina, Dylan Hernández and Asier Morales . They will be accompanied by Alejandro Ramírez (delegate), Alejandro Medina (monitor) and Mercedes Doblado (monitor).

The president of the club, Antonio Ramírez, confirms that “the objective of this championship has been more than met. We have achieved the objective we had set for ourselves because our judokas, newbies in the category, have achieved valuable training by having the next Canary Islands Championship as their priority objective. The Santiago de Compostela event was the last Cup scoring for the national ranking and the way to obtain a direct place for the Spanish Championship, to be held in Madrid on April 27. Previously, the Canary Islands will be played on April 6 in Tenerife, a great objective for the club.”

“The Galicia championship has been the perfect setting for all the outstanding national judokas who sought to score points, which gives a good example of the difficulty of reaching the podium, greatly raising the level of the competition. Even so, our judokas achieved silver and fifth place after managing to overcome the first round and, subsequently, falling eighth for some and in the fight for the podium for others. Now to prepare for the big goal, the Canary Islands Championship,” concludes Antonio Ramírez.
