The Italian national basketball team won both matches today, the first against Finland – due to the Scandinavians’ withdrawal caused by gastrointestinal problems – and the second against the hosts Turkey by 24-32. The Azzurri, ahead in every quarter of the match, struggled to get into gear and take off, but from the third quarter (which ended 10-2 in favor of the Azzurri), the match was all downhill.

Giuliano Bufacchi after the match against Turkey: “It was a tough debut against Turkey, a very strong team. We struggled a little at the beginning because we were tense and on our feet then we managed to do what we do best, that is defense and counterattack.”

The national football team won 2-1 against Portugal in the morning with a brace from Cusato, while in the afternoon they were defeated by the very strong Turkey 10-1 with a goal from Vignando.
