Taranto-Sorrento: the memory of Sharon and the end of the truce towards Jupiter

For Taranto’s match against Sorrento, the Curva Nord of the “Iacovone” is almost completely sold out. There are over 5,500 attendances in total at the stadium which, in a generalized context of mistrust and nostalgia for a past with greater participation, are still a good presence also considering that it is the first at home after the four-point penalty due to missed contribution payments contested by Covisoc. With the exception of Catania which is bringing sensational numbers to the stadium that are totally out of scale for the category, Taranto has the eighth grade in its group so we should try not to even throw the baby out with all the bathwater.

At the start of the competition, choreography in memory of Sharon, a girl of only nineteen, daughter of an old well-known face from the Curva, who unfortunately passed away this week after a car accident. The parenthesis of condolences for this broken young life is truly moving, as far as I can remember there has been nothing so participated by the entire fan base in recent history, nothing capable of shaking those present and giving everyone shivers.

Coming to the actual support, the rossoblù fans confirmed their usual standards with a bit of dispersion in coordination which dispersed part of the potential. For the first time this season, after the aforementioned issue of penalty points, the management in the person of president Massimo Giove was contested, towards whom the Ionian square had buried the hatchet with the recent positive results that they had placed in the alternative all the distrust harbored by a past that was anything but easy or serene.

Even the steps remember Sharon with a banner displayed at the start of the match. Their choirs are particular, they support differently from the North and this Sunday too they participate with very good numbers. Returning instead to the main sector of Taranto support, the thing that is most striking this year is certainly in the copious use of flags, almost exaggerated for Taranto if compared to its tradition: truly many and beautiful, they never stop waving and this color is definitely a point in their favor.

For the record, there were also around twenty-thirty boys from Sorrento, the second group after the Francavillesi two weeks ago, who managed to break the long isolation following the well-known and troubled away match of the Foggia team, without a shadow of a doubt the best seen on the shore to the two seas. Honestly, in the general commotion and also given the disproportion in numbers, the Sorrentos were never heard from, but they honored the match with their presence and we could still see them always on the move, an unmistakable sign that, for their part, they did everything as much as they could and should.

On the pitch we didn’t go beyond a goalless draw at the end of an ultimately boring match, however greeted by the applause of the public who continued to believe in the alliance with their players in order to bring home as much as possible from this year however, not very simple.
