He athlete from Tampique Gerardo Rodriguez Banda maintains his dream of reaching the Paris 2024 Paralympic Gamesthe most important sports event of the year and will seek the final pass in the next national selection that the Mexican Federation of Archery scheduled in May, after representing the country a few weeks ago in Dubai.
The competitor has in mind to be part of the national delegation that will travel to the capital of France, for the great event that will start next August 28. When testing his strength against another teammate from Baja California, he feels enthusiastic and determined to reach this stage that was denied him 3 years ago.
“A colleague from Baja California and I achieved the score in February. Although we finished in third place as a team in Dubai, the ticket that Mexico won has not yet been distributed. That’s why we will have to hold this competition, possibly in May, there will be the winner and the representative in Paris.”he added.
Originally from the port of Tamaulipas, he began his sporting career 6 years ago, to gain positions not only within the state team, but also to be immediately seen in the national coaches. Thus, after a year of practice he was already considered selected.
The national team achieved third place by team in the last international competition, however, they were unable to determine the corresponding tickets for the Paralympic Games. This, according to the athlete, will be known in May through a competition scheduled in Mexico City. It is also estimated to consider a Pan American in Sao Paulo, Brazil where the passport can be played.
“I feel confident and prepared to win. I want to get to my first Paralympic Games, since in Tokyo we are only four points away from being in the delegation. It is our revenge and we are going for everything to be in Paris”he pointed out.
