Tadej Pogacar is on the verge of overall victory in the Tour of Catalonia.
The Slovenian from UAE Emirates won his third stage on Saturday after a tough climb and increased his gap in the overall standings to his first pursuer Mikel Landa to 3:31 minutes before the final stage.
After the 154 kilometers on the sixth section, Pogacar crossed the finish line 57 seconds ahead of the Colombian Egan Bernal and the third-placed Landa.
Großschartner and Konrad go way back
“Today was really a tough stage,” said the 25-year-old Pogacar, who decisively attacked 29 kilometers from the finish on the demanding stage with 4,000 meters of altitude.
The two Austrians, Pogacar teammate Felix Großschartner (90th/+22:25 minutes) and Patrick Konrad from Lidl/Trek (116th/+23:58) crossed the finish line with a big gap.
The hilly final stage on Sunday is over 145 kilometers with start and finish in Barcelona.
