KRIMPEN AAN DEN IJSSEL • In collaboration with Synekri, MHC Krimpen organized a school hockey tournament on Wednesday. About 160 students from groups 5 to 8 of the Krimpen primary schools came to the hockey fields at Driekamp.
In most cases it was an introduction to the sport that was new to them for the young participants.
10 golden rules
Ralph Henderson, chairman of MHC Krimpen: “The great thing is that sportsmanship is the most important thing at all Synekri events. Sportsmanship towards each other, but also towards referees and opponents. In addition, fun, honesty and respect predominate. That is also recognizable for our club. MHC Krimpen above all wants to be a pleasant and safe club, where fun in the game is important. Of course winning is fun, but you also lose together. And that is also one of the 10 golden rules of Synerkri.”
The afternoon was supervised by a large number of volunteers from the club, mainly youth members and parents. They managed to convey their enthusiasm for hockey well to the students present.
Popcorn as an extra
As an extra, MHCK had arranged free fresh popcorn, which was in great demand. Not only among the participating children, but among parents and other audiences, who also came in large numbers to the Driekamp in Krimpen.
Henderson continues: “As a sports club in Krimpen aan den IJssel, you can only be happy with the volunteers from Synerkri. Not only are they indispensable in our municipality on a sporting level, they are also committed to all Krimpen residents on a cultural and social level. After handball, tennis and basketball, it was now the turn of this hockey tournament. Fortunately, there are many enthusiastic volunteers who help. Without them, such a tournament could never go ahead. The board is very grateful to them for this.”
Korfball and badminton coming soon
At the end of the afternoon there was the awards ceremony with many prizes and just as many happy children. Synerkri will soon also organize school tournaments in korfball and badminton.
