Rematch of the 2022 final in Indian Wells

In the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells there will be a duel between world number one Iga Swiatek and Maria Sakkari, number 9 in the WTA rankings. The Pole only needed 69 minutes to defeat Marta Kostyuk (UKR/WTA 32) 6:2, 6:1. Swiatek didn’t have to concede a break point to her opponent. In the end, 14 winners faced only 6 unforced errors. Sakkari, on the other hand, had to fight for 2:42 hours before she secured a 6:4, 6:7 (5:7), 6:2 victory against local hero Coco Gauff (WTA 3). This means there will be a new edition of the 2022 final in the Californian desert, which Swiatek won against Sakkari in 2 sets.

Djokovic foregoes Miami

Grand Slam record winner Novak Djokovic has canceled his participation in the ATP 1000 tournament in Miami next week. “In this phase of my career, I have to balance my private and professional plans,” the 36-year-old Serb explained his decision on Saturday X. This week the world number one surprisingly failed in round 3 in Indian Wells.
