Successful Showing at Santiago de Compostela Judo Club Avilés Expedition

Santiago de Compostela was not at all bad for the Judo Club Avilés expedition. Carlos Fernández, his coach, was more than satisfied with the work of his judokas. The Santa Isabel Sports Complex helped Valeria Coronado win silver, Adriana Coronado with bronze, and Nicolás Fernández and Noé Rodríguez with fifth place.

“The balance is very positive even though the loot could have been greater because we were prepared to take a step forward in all cases. We demonstrated it in the previous leagues where we won 27 of the 28 matches played, but then small failures in the playoffs condemned us,” said the coach. The most positive note was written by the Coronado sisters, Valeria and Adriana, who took silver and bronze respectively.

The first of them won and won in the quarterfinals against the Galician López, in the semifinals in “a very tough fight” against the Canarian left-hander Itaisha and in the final she fell to the Galician Trabado. “We are getting closer and closer to a rival that at the beginning of the season seemed unattainable,” said the coach. Adriana’s case is similar with some qualifying rounds to take note of, winning in the quarterfinals against the Galician Castro and losing in the round prior to the final with the Castilian-Leonese García. “The fight could have fallen perfectly on our side,” explained Fernández.
