Successful Senior Sports Day Filled with Enthusiasm and Joy in Vaassen

VAASSEN – The Senior Sports Day, which was held on March 21 in the Wieken in Vaassen, was heart-warming because of the enthusiasm and joy of the participants. Happy faces, cheerful people and above all a lot of fun.

This year’s senior sports day was opened by Monique Zweekhorst of the Nieuwe Lijn. She thought it was nice to see that so many seniors were still active. She asked for a warm round of applause for all the volunteers who had organized this day again and she kicked off this sporting day by throwing the first ball on the racing ball mat.

After the opening, the battle broke out in the Wieken and almost 90 seniors participated in netball, racing ball, shuffleboard, badminton and jokers. The battle was serious and everyone did his or her best to win the coveted cup. Yet meeting each other seemed most important on this day. People who had not seen each other for a long time or new people who were introduced to this day for the first time. “I’ll definitely come again next year!” said one of the participants who attended for the first time.

At noon there is a moment of rest during which all participants and volunteers are served a stew buffet. Everyone can sit comfortably at long tables, and eating together further enhances the atmosphere. According to the organization, not a word of disapproval was said that day.

After dinner, sports continue and at three o’clock in the afternoon it will be known who will go home with the cups.

The netball was won by the Emst netball team, Tommy Hogeling was the big winner in the race ball, Kees Versteeg won the shuffleboard and Toos Bosch won the joker. Participation in badminton was not about a prize but was mainly intended to become acquainted with the sport.

The organization really enjoyed this day. We can look back on this day with great pleasure, but we are also already thinking about next year’s sports day.
