First winning outing of the season for the Cus Ferrara Judo athletes who participated in the 6th Grisignano di Zocco Trophy, held at the sports hall of the homonymous center in Vicenza, a competition reserved for the Beginners and Cadet categories. Under the orders of the technicians Eric De la Paz and Francesca Andreolla, 5 young players from the academy took to the stage and everyone did well.
Prestigious silver medal for Alice Cavallari in the female Under 15 category up to 63 kg, who authoritatively wins two matches to access the final of the competition, where she is defeated by Elisa Comelli, an expert Friulian athlete from Kuroki Tarcento.
Chiara Gatti in the female U15 -48kg category ranked 5th, losing the final for the bronze which she would have richly deserved for her race conduct. She lost the first match, she enters the repechage round by winning the second fight, reaching the final which would allow her to access the medal, but she loses on points against Greta Reginato of the Bassano BU-Sen club.
Still in the women’s field, Marianna Savino (female U15 category – 52) kg, despite an excellent attitude in the competition, fails to get through the elimination phase, losing to Giulia Maddaluno, a top athlete from the Judo Vittorio Veneto sports club who will then win the bronze.
Good placings also in the men’s field with Giovanni Lugas (male U13 category -40) who ranked 7th. Making his debut in a high-level competition, Giovanni immediately revealed himself to be fierce, finishing the first match with a success. In the following round he is defeated, but finds revenge in the first round of the repechage, but will have to surrender in the 4th and final round against an opponent who will then go on to the podium. Surafel Win among the Under 15 men’s -60kg, he ranks 12th in a large category with great technical quality, winning a match only to lose in the preliminaries.
Only one medal, but full satisfaction of the technicians Andreolla and De la Paz who see the students’ tests as a small step forward to improve further and aim for the next scheduled competitions.
