Students from Het Kompas primary school in Dronten and local residents worked together during NLdoet on Friday.
The Oranje Fonds holds NLdoet every year in March. This initiative allows people to experience in an accessible way how much fun it is to do something for someone else. Last school year, Het Kompas primary school had a green schoolyard constructed. The students and children from the neighborhood enjoy this very much.
Invasive exotics
During NLdoet, students from group 8 and local residents gave the square a good spring overhaul. Before the action, the group received a lesson about invasive exotic species: plants and animals that do not originally occur in the Netherlands. This allows students to know what should remain and what should be cleared away. They rolled up their sleeves and pruned, weeded, sowed and the square was cleaned. Despite a rain shower, it was a pleasant and successful afternoon.
