Stéphane Morel replaces Caroline Flaissier as director general of the FFT

The executive committee of the French Tennis Federation has unanimously appointed Stéphane Morel as general director, replacing Caroline Flaissier. For six years, he had held the position of deputy general director of the FFT, in charge of commercial development.

The FFT has a new experienced CEO, who has worked in several important institutions in the sporting and e-sports world (FFT, NBA and Ubisoft), including six years within the FFT, whose organization and functioning he knows: “Stéphane Morel has in-depth knowledge of the ecosystem of French tennis and global sport,” we read in the press release. His wealth of experience constitutes a considerable asset for the Federation, involved in several major projects (diversification, clubs, modernization, attractiveness, high level, Rolex Paris Masters, etc.). Stéphane Morel has demonstrated throughout his career undeniable technical and managerial skills that he will use to the benefit of the collective. He will bring all his dynamism, professionalism and strategic vision to support and guide the teams in the success of the FFT’s ambitious projects.”

A degraded social climate

On the mission? “Ensure the continuation of the ongoing transformation, ensure the success of the main upcoming events (Roland-Garros, JOP 2024, Rolex Paris Masters, etc.) and implement actions to strengthen ongoing dialogue with Federation employees ». And on this last point, the work is important. For almost a year and a half, the French Tennis Federation has been going through a lot of turbulence. And its president Gilles Moretton is not unanimous.

Two anonymous letters were recently sent to FFT staff representatives, the last of which revealed by The teamand which Le Figaro had also been able to read, once again mentioned “employees in distress”. “Some are under chemical treatment to try to regain the strength to move forward, others are just trying to quickly leave this house but the negotiations are fruitless while these employees are unable to return to the premises. When will we react?, it was also specified in this second letter. These “employees in distress” even announcing “150 departures out of 400 employees in three years, unheard of” before talking «d’injustices»of “lack of recognition” and of “people crying in the hallways” . The general director of the French Tennis Federation (FFT), Caroline Flaissier, from the business world, had been “layoff” after the revelation of this letter from employees denouncing their working conditions.
