The IOC president said they are facing one of the most important moments in the history of women at the Olympic Games. In 1900, also at the Summer Games in Paris, the proportion of female participants was 2.2 percent, in 1952 in Helsinki it was 10.5 percent, and in 2000 in Sydney it was 38.2 percent. 50:50 is a big step forward.
