Should they pay you more if you work on Easter weekend? – The Sun of Mexico

The Easter holidays are one of the holiday periods in several sectors in Mexico; However, every year the question often arises whether workers should receive additional payment for working these days.

It is well known that in some companies and government agencies they give their workers these days off so that they can spend them with family and resting.

However, neither Thursday nor Good Friday are official holidays; That is, they are not covered by the Federal Labor Law, so your employers are not obliged to let you rest this day.

Likewise, you should not be paid triple this day if you work it as you would on an official holiday. For this reason, if they give you the opportunity to rest, take it because you will be paid the same as any other day.

You are not paid more if you work on Holy Saturday or Easter Sunday, but you do receive the Sunday bonus in the case of the latter.

What days are triple paid?

The case of Good Thursday and Good Friday is curious, because although some companies give it, others do not and there is no real obligation to give the day or pay extra, but so that you do not get confused we tell you which day is paid as a holiday.

The Federal Labor Law contemplates a total of nine days in which workers have the right to a mandatory rest or must receive triple their pay, seven occur every year and two every six years:
