Shin Tae Yong Optimistic About Indonesian National Team’s World Cup Qualification Journey

Shin Tae Yong gave his comments when asked by South Korean media, Nate, about opportunities Indonesian National team pass to 2026 World Cup.

Indonesia now has two Group F matches remaining, namely against Iraq and the Philippines. If Shin Tae Yong’s team can win one of these matches, then Indonesia will qualify for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asian zone.

After that, Indonesia is expected to qualify for the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asian zone. If they can win the Group in the fourth zone, then Indonesia will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup finals.

However, if Indonesia finishes as runner up in the group in the fourth round, then the Red and White team will qualify for the fifth round and will have to undergo a play-off match against the runner up team from the other group.

The winner of the playoff will advance to the inter-confederation playoff for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers to determine tickets to the final round.

The 2026 World Cup will be held in Canada, Mexico and the United States from June 11 to July 19. The 2026 World Cup will be attended by 48 countries from six confederations.

“We plan to advance to the final qualifying round. It’s true that this is positive, but it’s not over yet. Therefore, we can’t let our guard down or relax. We will do our best in every match, prepare thoroughly, and be able to advance to the final preliminary round. I will try my best to make it happen,” said Shin Tae Yong.
