The Formula 1 team Red Bull has placed on leave the employee who accused team boss Christian Horner of sexual harassment. While the Englishman is still in office, the woman had to hand over her laptop and work cell phone.

Red Bull and team boss Christian Horner (50) have been dominating the headlines in the premier class of motorsport for weeks. The Brit is said to have sent lewd messages to an employee who reported to him. After an internal investigation by an outside law firm, Horner was acquitted and allowed to remain in office.

Subsequently, messages were leaked that further incriminated Horner and reignited the affair. An anonymous email with a 170 megabyte archive and 79 files, containing numerous screenshots of messages between Horner and the Red Bull employee, was sent to a distribution list of over a hundred recipients.

Now there are personnel consequences, but they don’t affect Horner. The employee was placed on leave at the beginning of the week. Although she still receives her full salary, she is no longer required to report to work. The “F1 Insider” had previously reported that the employee, who was one of Horner’s closest confidants, was fired on Monday.

In order to prevent further leaks, only a handful of people from the Red Bull empire are said to have known about the suspension in advance. Not even team boss Christian Horner (50) is said to have been involved in the process. The racing team did not want to comment on the process. A spokesman told BILD: “We cannot comment on this as it is an internal matter.”

The fact that in the past few weeks she still had access to confidential data that is of great importance for the team’s sporting success should also play a role in the woman’s leave of absence. Now she had to hand over her laptop and her work cell phone.
