Injury, sending off, bankruptcy – HSV continues to lose

Even under Steffen Baumgart, Hamburger SV is on the verge of losing its longed-for promotion back to the Bundesliga. On Friday evening, HSV suffered its fifth defeat from the last seven games at Fortuna Düsseldorf with a score of 0:2 (0:1).

“That feels incredibly good. It was a very, very mature performance from us. I can’t remember any chance HSV had to score. The victory was certainly not undeserved over the 90 minutes, even if the sending off obviously helped us. We have to be that honest,” said Düsseldorf coach Daniel Thioune.

For the new HSV coach Baumgart, it was the second defeat in his third game despite the return of Lazlo Benes, who had previously been suspended. Rostock overtakes Braunschweig
FC Hansa Rostock deservedly won 1-0 (0-0) in Braunschweig and thus pushed Eintracht out of the relegation place. Kevin Schumacher scored in the 72nd minute for Rostock, who were much better, especially in the first half. In doing so, he probably saved his coach Mersad Selimbegovic’s job for the time being.
The game in front of 22,233 spectators began with fireworks in the Hansa block and counteracted all the developments of the past few weeks. Eintracht, who previously won six of twelve games under their new coach Daniel Scherning, was completely out of sorts this time.
