Indra Sjafri provided information regarding the date Chow Damanik and Welber Jardim joined the Indonesian U-20 National Team. He said that the two players would have different arrivals.

PSSI has announced 37 players to strengthen the U-20 Indonesian National Team. Later, Garuda Muda will face China U-20 in an international trial match at Madya Stadium on 22 and 25 March.

Of the 37 players called up, there are five diaspora players, namely Dillan Yabran Rinaldi, Chow Damanik, Welber Jardim, Eros Dermawan, and Marselinus Ama Ola. However, Chow Damanik and Welber Jardim still had not joined when the Indonesian U-20 National Team held its training camp (TC) in Jakarta on Friday (15/3/2024) evening WIB.

Indra Sjafri explained that Chow Damanik would only join the Indonesian U-20 National Team on March 27, while Welber Jardim would arrive in Indonesia on March 16 2024. “Chow will be on the 27th (March), for Welber the plane will arrive tomorrow night,” said Indra Sjafri.

Indra Sjafri admitted that he was quite satisfied with the performances of Dillan Yabran Rinaldi, Eros Dermawan, and Marselinus Ama Ola. He believes that the three players still need to be monitored to be able to join the Indonesian U-20 National Team.

“For the time being, especially the players from Spain, Eros and Marsel, we are quite satisfied, there are those from Germany, Dillan, we are quite satisfied. But it’s not that easy to look at the players and have to carry out test parameters so that if people ask whether they were not selected or why they were selected, the answer is by data,” he explained.

The Indonesian U-20 National Team is preparing to appear in the 2024 AFF U-20 Cup. Apart from that, Garuda Muda will compete in the 2025 AFC U-20 Cup Qualification and is targeted to qualify for the 2025 U-20 World Cup.
