Sabres Defeat Lightning in Extra Time: Girgenson Shines on the Ice

The “Sabres” defeated the Tampa Bay “Lightning” team in extra time with the result 3:2 (1:1, 0:1, 1:0, 1:0).

The Latvian forward spent 14 minutes and 25 seconds on the ice in this match, of which 47 seconds he played in the minority. Girgenson had three power plays, won all three faceoffs and posted a neutral efficiency rating.

In the ninth minute of the match, Brayden Point put “Lightning” in the lead, to which the visitors responded with Alex Tuck’s accurate shot less than three minutes later. At the end of the second period, Mitchell Chaffey once again took the lead for the home team, but in the middle of the third period, Tage Thompson regained the balance – 2:2.

Rasmuss Dālins scored the winning goal for “Sabres” in the second minute of extra time.

With 60 points in 60 games, the “Sabres” are in 13th place in the Eastern Conference and will play their next match on Saturday, when they will host the champion “Vegas Golden Knights”.
