Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani won the 2024 Spain Masters. The Indonesian doubles beat Junaidi Arif/Roy King Yap 21-18, 17-21, 21-19.
Playing on Court 1 Centro Deportivo Municipal Gallur, Madrid, Spain, Sunday (31/3/2024), Sabar/Reza faced stiff resistance from Arif/Roy. The battle for points was fierce from the start of the first game.
In the first game, Sabar/Reza were able to lead 11-7 at the interval. Arif/Roy tried to catch up, and managed to force a draw at 17-17.
However, Sabar/Reza were consistent at the end of the first game. Four points were achieved, and they closed the first game with a 21-18 win.
In the second game, Arif/Roy tried to take turns dominating. Having been ahead since the score was 4-3, the Malaysian doubles took the interval 11-5, and won the second game with a 21-17 win.
In the deciding game, a tight duel is inevitable. As a result, Sabar/Reza emerged victorious with a score of 21-19, ensuring that the Indonesian representatives were champions of the Spain Masters in the men’s doubles event.
This is Indonesia’s second title at the Spain Masters 2024. Previously, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari were able to emerge in the mixed doubles number, after defeating Cheng Xing/Zhang Chi.
Meanwhile, another Indonesian representative lost. Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi actually lost to Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi in the women’s doubles number.
