Off the asphalt and into nature: trail running is new territory for many runners. Deviating from old ways has some advantages – if you follow the most important tips and tricks.

Spring is approaching. Warmth and light lure us into the fresh air. Now is the best time to get outdoors and start trail running. Trail running is an English term and describes running off paved paths and roads. No matter whether it’s a forest path, a nature trail or a meadow – the bumpy surface makes us walk differently.

When trail running, your feet land differently with every step: sometimes higher, sometimes lower, further left or further right. This affects the whole body. On uneven terrain we use more muscles to maintain balance than when running on the road. We swap the monotony of the fixed path for the variety of the trail.
