Roger Federer Surprises Fans with Enigmatic Message and Graduation Speech Announcement

The world of tennis is not the same since Roger Federer’s retirement. The Swiss legend, who won 103 titles, including 20 Grand Slams, ended his career in September 2022 due to his serious physical problems that did not allow him to exhibit his virtuoso and elegant game. Almost a year and a half since that last time, this Thursday he shared an enigmatic message that surprised all fans.

Through his X account (former Twitter), in which he has more than 12.6 million followers, His Majesty made a post and caused a sensation. While she didn’t include any ads, she drew attention to the emojis that appeared. A “coming soon” arrow, a tree and eyes wide open…

Although many followers fantasized that Federer would be preparing to return to tennis next Christmas, very close to the start of the Australian Open, the truth is that he did not take long to clarify his publication.

Minutes later, the Basel native cited a video from Dartmouth, a private university in New Hampshire, United States, and announced that he will give the graduation speech for his students: “Thank you @dartmouth for the invitation and the incredible honor of giving the speech graduation ceremony for the class of 2024.” The tree, in fact, is the logo of the prestigious educational center.

It is worth noting that recently, Federer himself explained that he does not miss tennis: “I feel really relieved, if that makes any sense. I mean, the last few years have been difficult with my knee. You could feel the end was approaching. Then when it’s all said and done and you’re over the line and you’re officially retired, you take a deep breath and say, ‘Wow, okay, that was good.'”

And he added in dialogue with GQ Sports: “At that moment, I was suffering. Because I knew it was going to be difficult. The moment of the retreat in London, everything that led up to it. And then, of course, you have flashbacks a little bit later when you see highlights or people ask you, ‘How did you feel at that very moment?’, and they show you a highlight. You’re like, ‘Oh my God, do I really have to watch that again?'”
