Rising Judo Star Thomas Douriaud Qualifies for French 1st Division Championship

Sunday March 9 in Besançon, Thomas Douriaud climbed onto the 3rd step of the podium in the Burgundy Franche-Comté championship, which qualifies him for the “France 1st division”.

Thomas Douriaud started judo in the Paris region in the “baby” category like so many other 4-year-olds, then in the chick category.

When the family arrived in the region, he continued practicing judo in Charnay, but it was at the “Mâcon Judo” club that his potential was detected by his teacher Camille Gourbeyre.

In the junior category, Thomas then climbed on all the podiums and even ranked 5th during the international tournament in Dijon.

At 15, he is now a cadet and his competitive career in his final year ranks him first in the regional ranking list.

After successfully passing all the entry tests at the Dijon hope center, he is integrated into this sector of excellence which combines school studies and intensive practice of judo.

Camille Gourbeyre, his trainer, Patrick Guillem president of Mâcon Judo, and Bruno, his dad black belt in the same club, are rightfully proud and are meeting him in Paris at the National Judo Institute on March 30 for his first big bath: the French 1st division championship.

We wish him “Good luck” for the championship!
