All the best minor judokas from mainland France and overseas are present this Saturday in Villebon-sur-Yvette (91) to compete in the individual French Cup, the equivalent of the French championship for this category.

Among them, Noa Monpierre, a 12-year-old from Potignais. His two titles of “champion of Calvados and champion of Normandy this season, in less than 50 kg” earned him this “direct qualification”.

Noa, who does not hide “aim for the national title”, represents both the Fayacain Judo-club (Sainte-Honorine-du-Fay), where he is “dismissed since the start of the September school year” and the department of Calvados, by its membership of the “excellence judo sports section for the second year”.

An “excellent coach”

Between the training provided at Lechanteur college (Caen), where he is a 5th grade student, and those supervised by Joseph-Antoine Piel, his Fayacain teacher and « excellent coach », these are not less than “ten hours a week spent on the tatami”testifies Noa, before returning to his journey as a judoka.

“I started at the age of 3 in the baby section of the Potignais Judo club (JCP) » ; a club in which he is “stayed until last year” and who gave him “brought a lot during eight years with his teacher, Benoît Lemière”.

It was also as a member of the JCP that he became “champion of Calvados and Normandy as the youngest”.

A competitor at heart, the young judoka also has to his credit a first place won last February in an excellence tournament organized in Cesson-Sévigné (Ille-et-Vilaine), “where there was all of France”.

If he affirms his “desire to progress” in the discipline, Noa does not intend to devote himself entirely to judo, but to remain, according to his formula, “in leisure and performance”, with however “the objective of participating in international tournaments”.

For the moment, other activities also keep him pleasantly busy: “Sport in general, running, skateboarding, scootering and video consoles. »
