RFS striker Emersons hopes to represent Latvia’s national team in the future

The 24-year-old footballer joined the ranks of RFS four years ago and has become an important part of the team’s success. Last year, Emerson married a Latvian citizen, and as the club’s general director Māris Verpakovskis revealed in an interview with the “tvnet.lv” portal, the Brazilian is seriously considering the possibility of obtaining Latvian citizenship.

In a conversation with the agency LETA, Emersons noted that he hopes to play for the Latvian national team one day. “It would be very special for me to be able to represent this country, which is very special to me,” Emerson admitted.

With Emerson in the team, RFS became the champion of Latvia in 2021 and last year. Emerson said that in the four years since he joined RFS, the team has grown – a new football base has been created, and it has also managed to win two championships and enter the UEFA Conference League group stage.

Looking back on the previous season, the athlete stated that the team played very well as a whole, and he remembers best the derby against “Riga” football players, when the RFS team managed to take a 2-0 lead in the first half of the game. The match ended with a score of 2:2, but the footballer revealed that he played a very good game individually.
