Remembering Former World Champion Alesia Graf: A Boxing Legend Gone Too Soon

Boxing mourns the loss of former world champion Alesia Graf.

Her former boxing stable, Universum, confirmed this to “SID”. The Belarusian-born woman passed away far too early at the age of just 43.

Graf came to Germany in 1999 and received German citizenship in 2008. She celebrated her greatest successes more than 15 years ago.

Double world champion in the 00s

In 2006 she won the GBU world title in the bantamweight division. Two years later she also won the WIBF world title. She was also a teammate of Regina Halmich in her boxing stable.

She reacted in shock to the news on Instagram: “I’m shocked and stunned. You were not only a training partner and world champion, but also a friend. 43 years old – far too young to leave. I don’t understand it. What sad news. RIP Alesia.”
